If you follow me on Pinterest, you have noticed that I have a macaroon obsession at the moment. I can’t get enough of them! Seriously. I made a picture of gorgeous macaroons my phone’s lockscreen!
Told you. It’s a BIG problem… But everytime I look at my phone it makes me so happy! I get tired of checking my phone all the time, I tend to leave it in the other room when I am home. I need another phone just for work. Downside of working contract.
Anyways. I am co-hosting a baby shower on November 16th and am seriously considering trying to make macarons. A friend and I were wanting to go and do a Macaron baking class at Sur La Table, but it costs $70. So, I think I’m gonna scrap that and just try it on my own. I’ve been reading and reading and reading on how to make them perfect. So maybe that will be this weekends baking adventure!
This past Sunday I didn’t take any pictures of what I baked but we had some family friends come over to my parents with us and their youngest daughter … (she’s 11, but still always going to be 6 in my book, gahh! kids quit growing!) she helped me bake. A lot. We made sugar cookies and cut them out with football and football helmet cutters. Pumpkin cookies with browned butter frosting. And brownies with marshmallows. No wonder I felt sick that night. Sheesh. I need to learn to just taste and have one BITE not one SERVING of each dessert I make. Good thing I love Zumba so much.
Have I made you want a macaron yet? Have you ever made them before? I know they can be tricky, but I’m sure I can do it! I really need to start figuring out how to take better pictures of my food. I have one spot in my dining area that is best for images. I had the time figured out for the lighting but with it getting darker earlier I lost track of what time it’s at. And I’m thinking I need some more cute props and backdrops. Because all of these pictures are phenomenal!
Happy Tuesday!

Bree I have always wanted to make macaroons but I have to be honest: I am so intimidated by them. Which I know sounds totally silly, but I am. They are so pretty!!!!
OMG I have made something that the fabulous Darby hasn’t??? I am shocked!
Yes, my culinarily ambitious husband and I have made macarons a few times – chocolate hazelnut from Bon Appetit. The first time they were fabulous – puffed and chewy, as they should have been. Your hand will be like a claw from all the piping, so don’t plan anything else too intricate for the rest of the day. Use a silpat or parchment paper (I think the silpat worked best) and keep a close eye. They overbake fast! We tried the same recipe a few months later and it was a disaster. I have no idea what happened! Just be patient because they are worth the effort!
Oh boy! Can’t wait for the weekend… :)
These macaroons look amazing! Great post :)
