Summer Book Recommendations–Spicy Edition

summer book list

Hey now! Summer isn’t over yet! I still have a few more weeks I can indulge in some spicy summer books! Not that I’ve made it to the pool more than twice… and the beach? I don’t want to talk about it…

Okay- maybe I do. The beach situation here in Houston is, in a word BAD. DIRTY. (No, I’m not talking about the “spicy” books yet, sheesh) I’m talking about all the seaweed. Anyways. Back to the book list.

*Disclaimer* When I say that these books are spicy I do not mean 50 Shades of Grey. I had a conversation with a friend about 50 Shades of Grey this past week because of the trailer that just came out. I have picked up the book a couple times, and skimmed through it. If it’s a book I’m iffy on, I’m going to jump ahead and read bits and pieces in the middle and the end of the book. I wanted to figure out what all this hype was about.

While I will not judge you if you have read the book, things I read just weren’t my cup of tea, and I’ll leave it at that.

To give you a guide as to where my book recommendations fall, I would say… More spicy than Nora Roberts love scenes, but less spicy than 50 Shades of Grey. Hopefully that helps!

Alice Clayton. I am a sucker for a book that will make me laugh, and have a bit of romance in it. I found this gal at Barnes and Noble on the buy 2 get 1 free section. (this is perfectly okay, and doesn’t mean her books are bad, sheesh). Anyways, “Wallbanger” was sitting there. Erm, it got my interest? #duh And with all the cray cray about 50 shades I wanted to see if this was more of the same or if someone had actually not went that route with their story!

I mean seriously, there are always tables in Barnes and Noble with recommendations if you liked 50 shades. I just want to write on those signs, NO I DIDN’T, lets move on! Its been months people! Lucky for you if you liked it, but unlucky for me since I didn’t.

I have read all 3 books in the Cocktail Series (Wallbanger) and the Redhead Series (The Unidentified Redhead). My favorite was the Cocktail Series. I related to the character of the girl more because she was a designer (interior designer), she was my age, and lived in San Francisco. I know… I don’t live in San Fran, but I’d love to.

The Redhead series was good, but not my favorite. I kept reading after a while because I wanted to see how the story ended, and I didn’t have another spicy book to read. #dontjudgeme

So if you want to read a book that will make you laugh, is spicy, and you don’t have to think about too much, I recommend this gal.

I just have to share the names of the cocktail series with you, because, its funny, and hubs made fun of me every time I downloaded one. (Our Kindle apps are synced)

Yeah, yeah, go ahead and laugh. But don’t judge a book by its cover! Remember, the girl is an Interior Designer. . . ah crap. Your mind is already in the gutter.

What’s on your spicy book read list? Do you like 50 Shades of Grey?

-Happy Tuesday-
